Hi,
Definitely sounds like were related!!!!I hope so because there aren't any elders left to ask. We need to know our history. Here's our info:
My father (Perry Edward DeBose born 1951 in NJ) father's name was Arthur DeBose oringinally from Abingdon (born abt. 1903 and now deceased) who lived in Newark, NJ.He had 7 children and was married to Pearl Goins of Johnson City (deceased). My dad remembers Uncle (William?) Purcell and Uncle James (Arthur's brothers), Aunt Lucille Clay from Cincinnati was married to Unlcle Olie (sp?)and was blind in one eye.He spent 1 yr with her at age 9.Aunt Thelma's husband was Thomas.Aunt Ollie (Arthur's sister).Fannie, he thought was Pearl's sister???Annie he says was from Philly.Aunt Nellie Henderson sounds familiar. However, he thought there were a total of 13 siblings???
I found Julia DeBose (dad's grandmother) death record online stating she was a colored female married to Pery (*note 1 R in spelling)died June 16, 1931 and d/o (daugter of??) Joseph Carter and Polly Sawyer of Washington County Viginia buried in Davis Cemetary. My father says he remembers cleaning off the graves during his visit as a youth. However, I cannot locate this cemetary online.
I also found the death record for William Pery DeBose stating he was a colred male, widow of Juda (?) died July 4 1934; s/o James DeBose WCV (Washington County Virginia) and Sara Ellen Martin RCV ?
I found a Collins DeBose death record and s/o Henry DeBose, but no further information.
I'm new to the geneology bug so forgive me in advance for being unfamiliar with the acronoymns.
I'm emailing you my father's contact # to your personal email address.Let's chat and see if we're making some additional headway.
