Louis DeCoteau and Isabel Laverdure are my great-great grandparents. I just returned from Belcourt, Nodak. Many relations live on the rez, some are in Manitoba. Louis and Isabel had several children. My great grandpa Ezear Decoteau was one of their sons and he married Mary Rose Lafoutain. Ezear and Mary Rose gave birth to my grandpa Joe DeCoteau and so on. To find more infor go to Belcourt, you can get tribal geneaology rolls or go to Winnipeg/St Boniface side. The have many records. The Canadian line didn't exist for Native and Metis people in the history of our family. Joseph Duccharme dit DeCoteau was married to Lizette/Louise Dechamps. They were buffalo hunters, they moved up and down the interior of the Red River Valley.
