I am tracing the Thomas family and have (1) Richard Thomas 1752-1829 + Ann Elizabeth Decotee 1752-1829, (2) son Joseph Thomas 1797-1880 + Hannah Anthony 1792-1875, (3) son Seth Russell Thomas 1832- etc etc.
Ann Elizabeth Decotee was the dau of Ami Decotay 1726-1761 & Elizabeth Yeomans 1730- . My info shows Ami Decotay was from the Republic of Genoa. The Republic of Genoa was a medieval northern Italian city state which lost its independent existance after it was captured by the French in 1796. In 1815 it was given to Piedmont and was later incorporated into the new unified Italian state.
