Glad to hear from you. Especially since I have lots of new information on my Mary Decuir. Since I placed my last post of the genweb forum, I have discovered that my Mary Decuir is Marie Donata Decuir, the duaghter of Louis DeCuir and Marie Therese Rosina Rochon. Marie Donata was born 07/17/1847 in New Iberia, LA. Her parents were married in 1845. I have all of the past generations of her family. It has been a very interesting couple of months, and I have found out soooooo much information on the DeCuir family of Southwest Louisiana. Marie Donata was the paramour of one very much married Mr. Joseph Devisin Romero of New Iberia, La, and she had many children with him. I just found out about two children they had that I did not know about previoulsy. These children died in infancy. He also had many children with his legal wife. It seems that this type of arrangement was the thing back then. It was the norm to have as many as 12-13 children with your wife, and almost as many with your paramour. Some men had more than one.
My most helpful resource was Father Donald Hebert's "Southwest Louisiana Records", Volumes 1-40. "Hunting for Bears" is another great resource for marriage records.
I also managed to get the whole genealogy of the Romero family, and I am in touch with distant cousins on both sides. I have come into contact with some very nice, and very helpful people who have really pitched in to help in my research. I have made many new cyber friends along the way.
Please let me hear from you again Art so that we can compare notes.
