Marguerite, I'm afraid I have nothing more than 'family legend' - no firm information. The oldest we traced our Deeming ancestors back to was a Charles Deeming, who married in 1861 in Coventry Warwick, and would have been born 1835/6. I'm under the impression it was quite a long time before that, perhaps because of religious persecution. The other part of the family legend was that a woman with that name found out it had originally been de Ming, changed her name to that, and got left out of a will because of it. Vivian
