Thank you for answering my post on linking my ancestors Jacob Clay Dean and Sarah Emeline Smith-Dean to possibly your family as well.
My GG Grandfather Jacob C. Dean did have a brother by the name of John. I was told my the grandaughter of Jacob C. Dean that when the brothers Jacob and John Dean would have a "cross word" with one another, John would quickly change the spelling of his name to DEEN to bother his brother.
I have not been able to locate birth place other than Illinois for Jacob C. Dean. My G Grandmother, his daughter, Sarah Leona Dean did spell her name as DEEN for her first marriage, and listed Hamilton County Illinois as her birthplace. The gentlemen she married were, JONES, CASH, and FOWLER. Sarah Leona Dean had one child with Jones, one with Cash, and 3 with Fowler. Sarah Leona Dean did not rear her first two children, JONES And CASH, they were reared by her parents Jacob and Sarah Dean.
I would love to find families which are part of mine.
Thank you,
Dennis Doughty
