I am a Deer Descendant. My 2nd great grandfather was David Deer b. 1820. He was born in Suffolk Co., England and married Harriet Smith in England about 1854/55. They immigrated to Ontario from England in 1857 on the Ship Christianna. They settled first in Proton, Ontario, then went to Collingwood, Ontario. They had five children: Susan, George, John, Eliza (or Elizabeth) and Mary Elizabeth (my great grandmother).

You caught my interest saying that one of your Deer's married a Clark. My Deer family came from England with the Charles Clarke family. Charles married my great grandmother's sister, Sophia Smith. I have Clarke relatives still living in Ontario, but I'm told some went to the states.

I have your John E. Deer married to Louisa Warren in my database. I added them thinking there might be a chance that I would find a link somewhere to my Deer's. What I have on him is very scanty so I thought I would check with you for more information on him and his family.

Do you know whether any of your Deer's came from Ontario or had family in Ontario? I believe some of my Deer's went to the states, but to where, I haven't a clue. I just thought I would ask.

I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Myrna McGhie
