Any info on Nute, son of John Deer & Mary Van Cleave?

Does anyone descend from, or have any information about Nute Deer (b. abt. 1851) or his children, Luther, Frank, Clifford, May, Stella, Alice & Meda? He resided in Iowa with his parents, and later in Texas. Nute was the oldest child of John Deer (1827-1863 - son of Simeon) and Mary Elizabeth Van Cleave. His siblings William Benjamin, Simeon and Mary Catherine were born in Iowa. His parents were married in Montgomery Co., Indiana. Perhaps "Nute" is a nickname.
