This is a long shot, but I'm hoping you might be able to help me. My 2nd great grandfather was David Deer. I believe he was born on Oct 5, 1820 in England.

The Township of Proton (Ontario) book states that David Deer and wife Harriet Smith immigrated to Proton, Ontario, Canada from Suffolk Co., England with the Charles Clarke family in 1857. I don't know if he was born or lived in Suffolk Co., but information from the Smith's of Ontario say that he was probably married there. His wife, Harriet Smith was born in Bury, St. Edmonds, England, July 10, 1823.

I have no other information on David, and I've been searching for his parents for many years.

The Ontario records show that David died Nov. 28, 1901 in Ontario at the age of 81. Seeing that you've done considerable research on the Deer's in England, perhaps you might have David Deer in your file. I would really appreciate any help you might be able to give me.

Thank you very much.
