My grandfather, Phillip H. Deere, added the "e" sometime before 1929. I have gone as far as gggrandfather, Hardy Deer-m. Mary Alice ?. Their son was my ggrandfather-James Deer b. Marion Co.,SC in 1796, died in Henderson Co.,TN. in 1861--m. Nancy Johnson,b. 1823, in TN, died 1877 in Henderson Co.,TN. My grandfather, Phillip H. was the youngest of 13 children: Willis, Bob, Eli, Lafayette, Jim, Henry, Harve, Richard, Hansford, Mary, Rebecca, and Juston.
