Jennifer, What a nice gesture. I have a John Deer, b. ca1794, VA; m. 19 May 1823, Franklin Co., KY to Frances (Fanny) Leathers. They moved to Morgan Co., IN (I think) in about 1830, and to Tipton Co. at least by 1849.
Ten children: Thomas John, Mary E., America Melvina, Sarah Mariah, Martha, Newton, William, John H., Elizabeth (Betsy), and Ira M. who died as a baby.
Am trying to find John Sr's parents. Any thoughts?
Thanks, Esther
