Mary, My husband's ggrandfather was Jennings Deer (b 1819/20 Marion Co., SC, d ca 1865 Henderson Co., TN) married Jane Nowney McPeak (b ca 1820 - d 26 Apr 1904 Henderson Co., TN, buried in Rock Hill Cemetery tehre). Jennings was a brother of your James Deer. I have a copy of their father, James Hardy Deer's, service record from the War of 1812 and other data regarding this family. By the way, according to the document, the mother's maiden name was Mary Alice Rodgers. My husband's grandmother was Josephine Deer, b 04 Jul 1855, Warrens Bluff, Henderson Co., TN, died 25 July 1904 Newton Co., AR, buried in Cross Roads Cemetery. She married Christopher Columbus "Lum" Evans, 28 Dec 1874, Warrens Bluff, Henderson Co., TN. I have a copy of "Deer Family Genealogy" by Evelyn Deere Buck. Would be glad to share any info from it which might be helpful to you. We have visited Lexington, TN, on three occasions and have corresponded with Mrs. Buck. She has been most generous in sharing family data.
