James and Joel Dees, Edgefield County, SC, 1828
In an estate proceeding recorded 1828 in Edgefield SC, James and Joel are listed as recipients, along with their wives, to 1/8 each of the real estate of Roland Williams Jr, as though they were children of Roland and his wife Susannah Bush Williams, whose passing in 1828 opened up the estate.Roland had died between 1800-1810 but his wife apparently received a life interest in his real estate. There was some type relationship between the Dees and the Williams, as evidenced by Roland Sr's conveyance of a large part of his 1787 grant (of a total of 762 acres) to Bowling (Bowlen) Dees in exchange for surveying the grant, but I have been unable to determine exactly what the relation was.Would appreciate any info anybody may provide.
