Michael, here we go again. The problem with genealogy is once you make one mistake like leaving out or overlooking one "great", everything else becomes one big mistake. In the interest of getting everything correct, please disregard the my past two responses and substitute the following in lieu there of.

Michael, Your Great Great Grandfather/Grandmother was Anthony and Maria Greco DeFazio. They were from Calabria Italy. They came to this country in the 1890's The following info may be of use to you.

Your Great Grandfather Joe, was my Uncle, your Grandfather my cousin. Your Great Grandfather had eight siblings. Charles the oldest was my father. The remaining were Frank, Ben, Palmer, Furie, Billy, Rose and Lucy.

My father Charles was the oldest of nine surviving children. There were others that that I am unfamiliar with, that died at a young age (mortality rates were high in those times). With the passing of Furie in 1999, all of the original US clan are deceased. Charles came to this Country between 1891 and 1895 with his father Anthony and mother Maria (Greco)DeFazio. They settled in Moosic, Pa. They purchased a large track of property with a small lake. I am not exactly sure of the time frame, my guess however would be some time between 1905 and 1910. The homestead was known as the ice dam, (which received it's name because the lake was used to cut ice during the winter months and stored in a three or four story building with walls three foot thick filled with saw dust for insulation). I am now just guessing at dates, however I believe cutting of ice from the lake probably ceased in the late 20's or early 30's since a manufactured ice plant was built in Moosic by Anthony and Maria ( my Grandparents) in addition to one by my father Charles, on Lackawanna Scranton. Living Quarters started with a small duplex down by the lake and was later followed by the building of a large home on the hill. This home would later serve as the family gathering place every Sunday, for what seemed to me as a child to be a never ending meal for the DeFazio Children their spouses and families. This property today is part of the Montage development. While the storage facility, duplex and house on the hill have long ago been razed, remnants of a smaller lake is still there and this land now encompasses part of The Montage golf course.
