Dunmore, Galway, Ireland - Roots?
Posted by: Nigel Deffley Date: September 03, 2001 at 11:49:53
  of 39

I recently commissioned a search for my great great grandfathers birth place in Ireland.
Although unsuccessful for my purposes it did produce some information which may be of use to another researcher.
The search was based on the parish records for Dunmore, in County Galway and I quote "Parish records in Dunmore only began in 1833 and I have found no Devilly (or spelling variants) meeting the criteria you outlined. The only Devilly birth records we have in Dunmore are for a Patrick born 1842 to a John Divily and Mary Travelers and a William Devely born 1852 to Thomas Devily and Mary (Maiden name not recorded). Civil records only began in 1864, so this is way past being useful for you in tracing your ancestors."

If any of these names sound familiar and you need more information the address to write to is:

Galway Family History Society West
Liosbaun Estate
Tuam Road
Galway
Ireland
