Interested in the Manchester Deffleys.
My gg grandmother, born in Lecarrow, Roscommon in 1851 (or 1855-according to different records) married my gg grandfather in Chorlton (St Mark's parish Church, Hud***** on 14 April 1876. Her address at the time of the wedding was 6 Newcastle Street-ggfather gave the same address.Since my gg grandfather was born and raised and the couple moved to Northwich, Cheshire (where I come from), I have been trying to establish why they were married in Chorlton and suspected there were Deffley relatives there. Her father, Peter was a steward. Her younger brother Joseph (b. 1862) was living with the family in the 1881 census. The rest of the family used the spelling Duffley and still do. Since he returned to Ireland (that was a challenging search), I have been able to make contact with cousins in Ireland, though very little information has been forthcoming. I have a copy of their marriage license.
