Hi Barbara--Do you know Jeanne Brooks Gart's book on James Defrees & His Descendants? It goes down to Bailey Hatten. No one has ever located proof for the name of James' father; posted ancestries into the DeForest family are conjectural only. I am from James' brother Joseph Hutton Defrees (1753-1826), on whom I am compiling a list of descendants. --David in Virginia
