I wonder if you have any information on Adelia Mary Degan's siblings or parents? It could be that my gr-gr-grandfather, Henry Degan (b. ~1835 Canada) could be her brother. He was a stonecutter and moved from Syracuse NY to Chicago between 1862 and 1865. He died 20 Sept 1891 and his obituary references Syracuse, NY and Lowell, MI. Henry's son Alfred John Degan, my gr-grandfather, was Irish catholic and spoke French if that is any help.
