Edward DeGolyer is my great grandfather. His mother is my great great grandmother. His father's name is George DeGolyer. George fought in the civil war for the north. There is eight children total in the family. Bernard, Henry, Fred, George, Wilbur, Wesley,Ada, and Edward. George DeGolyer's wife was a Miller. They came to the U.S. in 1837 from Fulda Hesse Kassel Germany. Most of the children are buried in Rasseles, Pennsylvania. Edward however is buried in Lafayette, Pennsylvania. George and his wife Catherine Miller DeGolyer are also buried in Rasseles, Pennsylvania. Edward DeGolyer, George's son, had two families to support, one included that of my great-grandmother Myrtle Smith DeGolyer and their three children Mildred, Charles, and Dorothy.
