St. Charles (Illinois) Review, Oct. 24, 1879:
We hear that Mr. DeGolyer intends to remove to Chicago soon. We will regret to lose him from our midst. He is a most excellent citizen and has for his wife a true lady. They cannot well be spared from St. Charles circles.
The DeGolyer farm which was encumbered by mortgage has been traded to Mrs. Allen for a house and lot in east St. Charles. Mrs. Allen assuming the mortgage. Tomorrow Mr. D. Will sell his personal effects at auction and we would advise the attendance of all who desire to make bargains. A.J. Nichols will do the weeping for the occasion - we mean that he will do the crying.
