I just saw your response after I emailed you tonight. Many years ago, I searched at the Baltimore City Archives and found Baltimore City Market reports. I very clearly remember that there were DeGroffs/variations working at three different markets plus I had found my Lewis deGraff ... listed at the Centre Market in the 1804 Baltimore directory...Market Space #20...with John Keppel...bacon store keeper. For a brief time, I made the mistaken assumption that there were four DeGroff brothers at the four markets, but on studying the Adams County records for the other three men, I saw no record of Lewis whatsoever. After 19 years of trying to solve this problem, I would love to have other great minds involved!
In less than a month, I will have time to search for those records from the Baltimore City Archives.
One man's name was John Degraff/DeG. and I will locate the other two names for you. A John DeG. was married at a Catholic Church about 1812 in Baltimore, also. I will find those records for you!
