Brad, Mary Catherine DeGroft 1842-1917 married Isaiah A. Kreglo 1840-1915 @ St Paul's Lutheran Church in Littlestown PA. When she applied for a widows pension after his death in 1915 there was the following letter in the records at the Veterans Admin: Littlestown, Pa. Oct 16th 1915. George S. King Esq I have made a careful search of the existing records of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and find no record of the marriage of Mary C. Degroft to Isaiah A. Kreglo. The Degroft family however are reliable people, and their statement in the case ought to be correct. Very Sincerely - Rev. John Jay hill Pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church N.B. The pastor in charge when the above marriage was commemorated has left a very imperfect record. John Jay Hill Isaiah served with "Cole's Calvalry" First Regiment Potomac Home Brigade Calvalry. He joined on Aug 6, 1863, after the battle @ Gettysburg and mustered out on Jun 28,1865. It is interesting to note he was listed as Isaiah A. Kreagle on the roster from the MD Archives relating to "Cole's Calvalry" and his knee wound was not listed. Oh yes, the pension was approved and Mary received a pension of about $2.00 or so per month. I know there are a ton of Degrofts in the Gettsyburg, Adams Co PA area. Any help in getting Mary Catherine's parents and siblings would be greatly appreciated. She & Isaiah rest in the Bell's Methodist Church Cemetary adjacent to Andrews AFB MD just off MD 5, Branch Avenue on Allentown Road. Thank you, JimF
