Jim and Steve:
The original message was posted by my brother. Our last name has had the spelling of DeGrofft for 5 generations (with a possibility of 6). We are decendants of Aaron DeGrofft (sp?), and his son Lyman DeGrofft (m: Nettie Mae Thomas) and their son William (born 8 Nov 1897; m: Florence Dau) Aaron and Lyman are from the Illinois/Iowa area followed by migration to Oregon.
