According to my reference, "DeGraff or DeGroff which is the Anglicized version of the Dutch redition of the name, family in America was one Jean Le Comte, a French Huguenot who is said to have been born in Picardy. The records o fthe Bibliotheque Wallone at Leyden, The Netherlands, idicate that Jean Le Comte became a member of the Huguenot Church at Middleburg, Zeeland. On 12 December 1660 Jean Le Comte married Mary Laurens. A son, Moyse was baptized there 13 March 1661." By 1674 the family arrived in New York. Moses (Moyse) de Graaf sometimes was called Le Conte according to the author.
