In Reply to: DEHN, Christian by Mary Williamson of 26

Frederick Dehn, b. 21 Nov 1831 came to Trowbridge and other towns, Ottawa Co, Ohio about 1860-2. He followed his sister Minnie and a brother Carl and 2 or 3 sisters followed him. They were all from Cranzin, Arnswalde, Germany (Prussia), now Poland. Frederick had a sister Anne Dehn who married a Pohl, a sister Minnie Dehn, a sister Gusta (Augusta) Dehn who married a Krausze, a brother Carl or Charles who married someone and had a child who married a Guth, and a brother Christian who I thought stayed in Germany. But maybe not.
Frederick married Wilhelmina Klingbiel who came from the same area as Fred.
The following letter was written to Frederick Dehn on August 28, 1868 from Cranzin, Arnswalde I believe by his brother Carl or Charles and by his mother. It speaks of Christian Dehn.
Dear Brother
With joy I take pen and paper to write to you, dear brothers and sisters, to inform you that thanks to God we all are well and happy, and I wish that my little writing will reach you in good health blah blah blah.
In the spring, I and Ernestine will visit you, loved ones, and if we find you in the condition you wrote us about, then we will be very happy. But I hope you will not lead me into misfortune if I rent from you and you have to step before me in embarrassment. That I do not want.
Blah Blah about rye and summer wheat.
I also have to tell you that the old Steindorf died last year, but before he died he got his brother Ludwig to have to go to prison for three years and he has been at Arnswalde for the last nine months under investigation about the money of the American. As the old one lay on his death bed, he told that his brother Ludwig had committed perjury. On July 20th he was sentenced to three years in prison and has to pay all trial fees.
Also I would like to tell you that a lot of people from around here immigrated to America this spring. Daniel Sauer, Koehns Carl, Schroeder and Klincks. and also my old friend Wilhelm Grise all went with the steam ship. I also want to let you know that the Taylor Paetznick died in April and the Inn will soon be sold. There are more debts on it than it's worth.
Dear Brother, I also want to write you that Christian's wife had a son on February 22 and our sister Ernestines' little girl died this month. Mother would like to know if Marilis goes to work. Now I hope you stay well and healthy. More hugs and kisses stuff. Signed "your brother'
More is written from Frederick's mother:
Dear son
Write us news about your children and about Marilise's children. ...if Marilise has her own income. Also, please write us what the Ahrnt's (Arndt) children are doing. and the Kruegers. We want to greet all of them from their parents who are in Schneidmuehl. I have been asked to greet you and your wife from Christian and his wife as a stranger and a sister in law and from their little son who is very well. And do greet Martin Taenken (Teinken) from us. We found out that his wife had died. Greetings from Bauer Daniel Ihlenfeld, Bauer Krueger, Ludwig Lenz, Gottfried Zirc or Csirc or Zire, S Steinberg, August Krueger. We have not heard from Grottfried Kruesen's parents and hope they are fine.
Dehns
