I'm so excited to hear from a DEHN! I thought they were all dead, but now that I think about it, I'm alive so it's logical someone else survived :)
Your August Ernst Dehn born in 1854 fits as possiblly my gggf, as to name, age and area. Do you know his wife or any children? All I know is my ggf August J. Dehn was born in 1880, Stolp, and his fathers name was August. He married a Bertha Stange (Stanger) in the late 1890's in Germany, and came to Detroit in 1905. Did August Ernst marry a Auguste Schmidt? Do you have a death date and place for August Ernst?
All the records shows is that they were "from Stolp, Germany." I do not know if the Stolp was their county and/or town. Any hints on "Stolping" would be greatly appreciated!
