PHILIP DELAMARTER 12/12/07
Thank you for staying with me on this, Philip.I had mistakenly looked at page 496 in the earlier edition of Riker.
Riker, in the second edition, has apparently confused the children of Jan and Abraham, sons of Glaude. He assigns the children 11 Cornelius, 13 Susannah, 14 Johannes, and 16 Jannetje (baptized 13 October 1689) to Jan although the Kingston baptism records show them as children of Abraham and Celeste.(The records to which I have referred read "Blank" rather than "Jannetje".)
Conversely, He assigns to Abraham and Celeste the children 17 Tanneke, 18 Hester, 19 Maria, and 20 Catherine, although Tanneke and Catherine are assigned to Jan in the New Amsterdam records.
So the identification of the parents of Maria, and now Hester, remains unsubstantiated.
