A Delano-Hibbard Connection
Posted by: Elizabeth Reeves Bacus Date: July 11, 2001 at 06:15:25

My husband is descended from Jabez Delano(Jonathon, Jonathon, Phillip)who was married to Prudence Hibbard (Hebbard etc). They were married on Feb.22, 1730 at Tolland, Connecticut. The record reads Prudence HOBART of Windham. There were no Hobarts in Tolland but there were Hibbards, so it is presumed that the bride was Prudence Hibbard.Jabez's birth or chirstening record is in the Dartmouth vital records. Jabez also has a mispelled last name. In the marriage record he is listed as Dolan(only because the record was hard to read.) The daughter of Jabez and Prudence, Sarah, was married to Captain Jireh Swift who was killed in the Rev.War.One of Sarah and Jireh Swifts children was named Hibberd, probably named after her mother's family. This branch of the Delano Family is connected to Mayflower passenger, Richard Warren.
