Looking for folks with Native American lineage from the Delano line. I have seen the name on several Canadian Native American lists. I am researching my 3rd grt. grandfather's lineage and I ~think~ I may have stumbled onto something here. He was b.c1820/21 in Brunswick, Maine and I believe he may be a son of Elizabeth Turner (Delano) Moody. (hence his middle initial of "D." (Joseph D. Moody).
Elizabeth's husband was Bradstreet Moody who died in April of 1820. By the 1820 Brunswick, Maine census which was probably taken in the summer of 1820, Eliza T. Moody is head of house with a son under the age of 5 which means that this Could be my Joseph. If she were pregnant when her husband died or if she had just had a baby when he died this might very well be my Joseph who was b. c1820/21 in Brunswick, Maine (so all VR's of his son's that I have say).
Elizabeth married 2nd to a Charles Thaxter and in the 1830 Portland, ME census, they have a son age 10 (which again fits my Joseph's birth year of 1820 to a tee), she is age 50. By 1840 Charles and Eliza are in Bangor, Penobscot Co., Maine where the son is age 15-20 (my Joseph???) and she is age 60.
Then by the 1850 census, Charles must have passed on as he was age 60-70 in 1850, and Elizabeth T. Thaxter is living in Bath, Lincoln Co., Maine with the Lorenzo Parker family and his wife Rachel H. who is age 33 b. ME. Eliza is age 71 and born MA (she was born in Duxbury, MA 1779) and she is a descendant of Philippe DeLano.
If anyone has any info at all on Elizabeth or the fact that she may very well have had a son named Joseph D. Moody b. 1820 in Brunswick, Cumberland Co., Maine (that by the way is Not on file in Brunswick VR's...I've checked with the Town Clerk's Office already), I would be Very greatful to hear more about this family.
