Zebulon Delano wrote an affidavit (21 Aug., 1849) to support the Revolutionary War Pension claim of Stephen Tilden's widow Elizabeth.. He wrote: "I, Zebulon Delano of Hartford.. in the county of Windsor, and State of Vermont, aged 32 yrs. testify... I have lived in Hartford for about 64 yrs. a neighbor to Stephen Tilden while he lived there, sometimes called Stephen Tilden Jr. I have frequently heard him converse in relation to his having been in the Revolutionary War... said Tilden was an older man than myself... Tilden died 8 Sept., 1826 and was 73 yrs old at his decease. He married Elizabeth Tilden and she lived with him as his wife at all times. She is now his widow and lives on the old homestead. His son, Jedediah Norton Tilden is a neighbor of mine and his 56 years old more or less.
