My name is Carmelita Asuncion-Rabanillo.
Here's my contribution to the Del Fierro Ancestry.
My father, Benjamin Trinidad Asuncion was a native of Iba, Zambales. His father was Roman Asuncion, son of Columba Garcia del Fierro Venzon, sister of Ysabel, Constantino, Honorato, Ciriaca, Guadencia, Ernestina, Agripino, Guillermo & Caudioso. Columba married Gregorio Asuncion from Marikina, Rizal. Just like Mario Escobar Orosa, I have a copy of the hand-written genealogy of Don Fernando del Fierro from Galicia, Spain. It was given to me by my aunt, Carmen Trinidad Asuncion-Mercado. I was able to create the family tree based on it. I have met Lolo Vicente Castillo and his children, all of whom have the Spanish features. Lolo Vicente was the son of Honorato.
With regards to my father, Benjamin, he said that after the war, he developed malaria and it was the late Pres. Magsaysay, his cousin who picked him up in Iba and flew him by helicopter to Phil. Gen. Hospital. Pres. Magsaysay was the Chief of the AFP then. My father's siblings were: Alfonso Trinidad Asuncion, Carmen Trinidad Asuncion-Mercado, Praxedes Trinidad-Aquino (moved to the States in the early 50's) Luisa Trinidad Asuncion Fernandez/Altares (used to be a teacher in Iba, her children Romy, Lulu & Pinpin now in SFO) and Papa's family moved to Canada in the early 70's.
Since my father seldom brought us to Iba, I never really know a lot of our relatives. All the Asuncion siblings are now gone so it's really difficult to trace who our relatives are. Perhaps, Romy & Lulu Fernandez who grew up in Iba would be the best persons to ask.
