You asked about a Sam Dellis in Anderson Co. TX. The 1860 Federal Census for Anderson Co. TX lists a Samuel Dellis, age 15, born in MS. He was living with Almira Dellis (age 41, born TN)--probably his mother. Also in the household were Wiley (21, MS), Margaret (18, MS), Permelia (14, MS), William (10, MS), and Dennis (7, MS). I believe this is the family of Dennis Dellis, deceased (by 1852). They lived next to a T. S. Parker family and a Thomas Black family; close by was a John M. Dellis family.
In December of 1850 Dennis and J. M. Dellis bought 380 acres of land in Anderson Co. from an Isaac Parker. After Dennis Dellis died, John M. Dellis was appointed administrator of Dennis Dellis' estate, and sold off several parcels of land belonging to Dennis Dellis in 1852 and 1853.
I am descended from Arminda Dellis (daughter of John M. Dellis) and John Black (whose guardian was the Thomas Black mentioned above).
I have not come across another Sam Dellis in Anderson Co. TX in the mid 1800s, and do not know any more about that one. I would be interested what all you can tell me about him.
