The first census I have found that list Theodocia 'Spence' Deloach born November 17, 1818 in Alabama is November 14, 1850, Harris County, Georgia, Goodmans District, dwelling 532, family 560, page 10. She is married to Augustas Deloach and 6 children are in the house. Her name is spelled Desoia short for Theodocia.

In 1860 I found Theodocia in Coosa County, Alabama widowed with 8 children, one age 5 named Theodocia. She is shown with $1000 real estate and $2000 personal estate, not bad for the time.

Both these women are listed as white on the white census. Nothing indicates a plantation, just a successful farming family.

The 1850 Harris County, Georgia slave schedule list A.W. Deloach as the owner of 1 black female age 40.

Also listed is Augustus DeLoach as owner of 1 black female slave age 30.
Michael Deloach (brother to Augustus) is listed as owner of 1 black male slave age 33.

Sadly, the penalty for a person of color masquerading as a white was very severe.
