My wife descends from a branch of the Riel dit Delorme family that came from Sherbrook, Quebec to New England the end of the 19th century. Fabien Riel Dit Delorme (1841-1895) came from the Montreal area to Sherbrook. I have a copy of the Sherbrook records. Someone sent me information showing that the Riel who came to Lanoraie, Quebec, was Jean-Baptiste Riel, born in Limerick, St. Perre, Irelande around 1680. His son Antoine used the Dit Delorme and another son became Dit L'Irlande.
I can send more information if you like.
Jim Lossing
