Dear Ned,
Thankyou so very much for your information on the Demede family of Weeley - I am absolutely delighted. I will spend some time looking at it. Our ancestor was Eleanor De Maid, and I think originally I put in my query born in 1812 at St Osyth, and she married Samuel Read at St Osyth.
I now know from Census records that she was born at Weeley, and it could have also been 1806 or 1803. I thought her parents were JOhn and Ann De Maid, but could be wrong in this. I am still on the hunt, but your information tells me of the circumstances of their being in the area. I will keep working on it and would be most interested if I can relate her to any of the family you portrayed. If indeed her parents were John and Ann De Maid, then she is a G/Grandchild of Pierre and Mary. Meanwhile, if anything else comes to light, I would be most grateful to hear from you.
My Kindest Regards,
Wendy Matthews, Australia
