Hello Stacy and anyone else following this thread,
Back in the 1960's my mother Corene Jacks Miller did considerable research on the Dement Family and put together a family tree showing the Deming DuGua connections to our Dement family from a book on Ancient Weathersfield Connecticut, showing 5 generations (and roughly 200 names) of the Deming family, which I know to be the source of this information.
However, the connection from our Dement family to the Deming family (while quite possible) has never been proven to my knowledge. In fact, having carefully mapped out the Deming genealogy from this book myself, I found that the dates and names my mother used to make this connection don't actually fit, unfortunately disproving the assumed connection.
I have shared this information with the National Dement Family Assn. and find all of their information on our Dement family to be well documented and reasonably proven, as it should be.
I also manage a website (dementtree.com) for a Texas branch of the Dement family, addressing my great grandfather Edward Harvey Dement and his descendants, and our connections to the National Dement Family Assn.
I frequently see posts on the internet from people who have also assumed this connection to the Deming family to be correct, and ask that you please share this post with anyone making, or who has made this assumption.
Gregg Jacks Miller
