He was also known as "Powder John Madbury", "Powder John" or "the Powder Major". This man was son or grandson of Elie deMeret (as it was then spelled) who was a Huguenot refugee. He was a patriot in the American Revolution hiding gun powder and amunitions for the war, in his home in Madbury Connecticut. I am trying to find out more info on him if I can.
