There was a British Denby family in the 19th century also. I wonder whether there is any connection. I only have some bits and pieces!

Virginia DENBY born Rio de Janeiro about 1836; she married George Armitage THOMPSON. He was living in Rio de Janeiro at least between 1853 and 1862.

John DENBY (born c1809) married Gertrude [????] and had a son Pedro who was born in Rio de Janeiro on 9 Sep 1843, though not baptised in the British church until 29 Aug 1841.

Sophia Amelia DENBY married Benjamin Delap THOMPSON on 13 Jul 1841 in Rio de Janeiro.

Carlota Maria DENBY was married c1850 in Rio de Janeiero to either Barten Fletcher ALLEN or Oswald EVANS

William C DENBY was resident in Rio de Janeiro in 1862. He might be the same as William DENBY who was born in Brazil c1828, and was living in Kensington, W London in 1901 (perhaps married to Mary, born c1836 in Stone, Staffs.)

I would be glad to hear any further information on this earlier DENBY family.
