SC for 200 pounds lawwful money of the SC 300s lying in the fork between Broad an Saluda Rivers, all sides vacant, being the same tract granted Cargill 15 Feb 1759...Signed by John Cargill, Keziah Cargill. Wit: SAMUEL POWELL, SARAH TINSLEY, ELIZABETH TINSLEY...poved BY SAMUEL POWELL before John Caldwell, J.P. 7 July 1770. Is it possible that you people were Powells and somehow the name became mispelled down the line? There are other references to SAMUEL POWELL bring witness to other legal papers.
