I type fast, though it took me a while to get connected to the internet.

I have:

Thomas C. Dendy
b. 2 May 1775
d. 10 Jul 1845
Elizabeth Cason
b. 12 Dec 1780

Children:
1. William C. Dendy
b. 14 Nov 1801, South Carolina
m. Nancy
b. 1805
This is my line, so I have a lot on their children and descendants.

2. James Hogan Dendy
b. 14 Oct 1803
There were at least three by the name of James Hogan Dendy. This is the middle one, who had both an uncle and a nephew (son of Wm. C.) by the same name. It takes care not to confuse them.

3. John D. Dendy
b. 25 Aug 1805
d. 27 Oct 1892
m. Mary McLean
b. 4 Jun 1804
d. 25 Dec 1891

4. Richard W. Dendy
b. 22 Mar 1807
d. 12 Jul 1835

5. Nancy Dendy
b. 2 May 1809
m. Henry Jeffcoats

6. Thomas P. Dendy
b. 31 Jan 1811

7. Larkin Milton Dendy
b. 26 Jun 1813

8. Elizabeth S. Dendy
b. 4 Jan 1816
m. John Bradley (Brady)

9. Edmund Taylor Dendy
b. 23 Dec 1817
m. Julia Rebecca Mothershead
This is the lineage of the Dendys in the Pickens, Mississippi area.

10. Priscilla Dendy
b. 6 Jun 1819
m. Ivy Tucker
A descendant of hers, John Young, became the only astronaut to both walk on the moon and fly in the space shuttle, and was the Commander of the first shuttle space flight.

Thomas C. Dendy was the son of William Dendy, Sr., and Clary Cargill (I have some interesting stuff on the Cargill family in VA as well).

William Dendy, Sr.
b. @1738, Scotland
m. @1768, Halifax Co, VA
d. @9 May 1801, Laurens Co, SC

The father of William Sr. was also William, though apparently he never went by Sr. He was born in Scotland and died in 1757 in Halifax Co, VA. It is conjectured that the father of William was Jacob Dendy, who lived and died in Scotland, but I have not seen the evidence supporting this.

Source for virtually all of the above is The Dendy Family Register, by Jennie McCormack Dendy, Leslie Mac Dendy, and Roland Ray Dendy, published in 1978. There was only one printing, but I was able to find it in my local Mormon Family History Center.

Roger Dendy

P.S. Regarding misspellings, people try to spell my name Denby more often than Dendy, but the most common is Denny. According to the book, the Dendy name is actually historically related to Dandy.
