i am interested in the cargill and dendy families per their significant involvment with my harris family from the lunenburg/ halifax co, va area on into laurens co, sc.
can you tell me which thomas dendy this was who, along with john cargill, sr and jr, witnessed this lunenburg co, va deed re samuel harris?
lunenburg co, va deed book 5, page 496, 1759, samuel harris of halifax co, va to thomas morris of brunswick co, va for 170 lbs a certain tract in lunenburg on the north side of the staunton river, being granted to the said samuel harris by 2 patents dated 1748, one of the patents being for 404 acres, the other for 353 acres, being about 757 acres, bounded by col byrd; munford; cargill; stith. wit: john cargill; john speed, jr; thomas dendy; john cargill, jr.
i am also interested in the blocker family.
redding blocker was enumerated adjacent my archibald harris/ elizabeth carter per the 1834 ga state census for cobb co, ga.
info on rootsweb sites say that redding blocker was the son of michael blocker/ rosannah griffin.
edgefield co, sc records show that michael blocker and daniel mc kie, jr, whose mc kie family was also from lunenburg co, va, were purchasers at ellis palmer's 1800 edgfield co, sc estate sale.
ellis palmer was the brother-in-law of my simcock cannon/ jane rudd, grandparents of my jane cannon who married my charles harris in 1807 in pendleton co, sc. they were the parents of my arch harris/ elizabeth carter.
my charles harris was the son of my william harris, jr/ frances rodgers who died in 1799 in laurens co, sc and he was the son of my william harris, sr/ frances goode, who were in lunenburg co, va by 1746.
i have found the will of william griffin, and see to follow, stating that rosannah blocker was his daughter.
some of this info says that william griffin was the son of richard griffin/ mary green also of lunenburg co, va.
do you know more about this and/ or can you confirm that william griffin was the son of richard griffin/ mary green?
again, the dendys; cargills and these connections re the griffin family are of interest to me re my harris family and their connections.
i would be glad to hear from both of you.
