I, too, am a direct descendant of Thomas Porter through his son, Eli, who married Martha Ball, then their daughter Sarah Ellen Porter who married Jonathan Ellis. Their daughter, Elizabeth Jane Ellis married Joseph A. Graves and their son, George Franklin Graves, was my mother's father ... my grandfather.
I have some questionable information that says Thomas Porter's father was Benjamin Porter(1697) who married Ann Campbell(c.1700) and Benjamin's father was Benjamin Porter(1678) who married Hannah Ingram.
You say that Thomas was born in England??? Do you have current information on Thomas's ancestry??
