Paroisse St Joseph de Soulanges, Les Cèdres, came out with a CD commemorating their 250th Anniversary.
This is what I've found: Angélique Denis seems to have been adopted
Angélique Ouingaitte married Antoine Girouard (meunier) on February 17, 1817. Father of bride listed as Richard (adoptif) (donateur) and Marie Deschamps (adoptive). Antoine Girouard died on March 19, 1827. He was 30 yrs 8 mos.
Interestingly, I found a posting for Angélique Ouingaitte/Windgate and the name Quenneville appears. The only Michel Quenneville I came across married Josephte Deschamps in St Polycarpe, Quebec on Feb 26, 1827, 10 years after Angélique married Antoine Girouard. I therefore doubt that this Quenneville was Angelique's adopted father. In the same posting, there was a 4th marriage for Angélique Denis. She apparently married JOSEPH DENIS in Les Cèdres. No date is mentioned. I also haven't come across anything in my books or CD for this marriage. So the mystery continues.
