Hello Rose,

My great grandfather was also Joseph but we are still unsure how it is spelled. My grandmother's SSinfo. says Dennis, her Birth recirtificate says Dennis but the family says Denis. My Joseph and wife ( I was told Adeline ) are from Canada also. The story goes that my great great grandmother was native american. We don't know where they lived in New York but my great grandmother Florence Dennis and her husband Philip Deadware lived in Troy and Melrose or Molone which ever one is close to Troy. I do know that they had family in Cohoes NY by the name Rose. Rose had a birth mark on I believe the right side of her face. My father said he remembers her going to the farm and speaking french so the children wouldn't understand them. I also am being told that there is another sister by the name Maud. I don't know where she lived though. If you want to see pictures of Florence Dennis go to http://www.gamachegraphics.com/ and click on genealogy. My grandmother is listed under Legette and Florence Dennis is listed under Deadware. In the Deadware picture is my grandmother's sister Rose Mildred but changeed her name to Mildred Rose with her son Philip Gross. I don't have all the names up yet but the ones I am writing to you about are there. I do know that my great grandparents were married in a church in Canada somewhere near Montreal. I also know that my Joseph had quite a few children also how many lived I don't know but I am told they had about 20 children in all. I also know that Joseph and his wife died before my father was born so it was before 1943. If any of this sounds familiar please check my photos and see if they resemble your family at all and let me know.
