The name DENNE is believed to be Norman French in origin...first noted in England at the time of King Edward the Confessor prior to the Norman conquest in 1066.
It is possible that all Dennes alive today have a common ancestor, Robert de Denne of Denne Hill, Kingston, Kent, England. Lineage is well documented for several family lines. In the UK, Dennes today are concentrated in the south-east of the country, notably in Kent, and also in Sussex and London.
