Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. Somehow I missed your message and just found it by accident this morning.

The earliest record I have for John Deboy in Monroe Co.,[W]VA is the 1799 Monroe County, (West) Virginia Personal Property Tax List
Deboy, Conrod 1 - - 2 [son]
Deboy, John 1 - - 1

His wife was listed as Elizabeth in post 1800 land transactions and was a widow on the 1830 census. I believe she was his first wife, but I have no proof.

John died 7 Mar 1829 Wolf Creek, Monroe Co. WV. He was 79 years old. (b. 1750) Monroe County West Virginia Records: Will Book 2 - Pages 473-474 - Dated June 15, 1829 John Deboy Sale.

Elizabeth died 1832 at age 82 -- b. abt 1750.

The children I have been able to identify were: Christian "Christley," Conrad, Elizabeth "Betsy," Mary Magdeline "Polly," Jacob, Catherine "Katey," Abraham, Sarah "Sally," and Julia "Uly."

John's son Conrad was born 1776/1780 in Virginia. (Age range from various records, place of birth from 1850 census.) I do not have reliable information about the birth dates or places for the other children, but Conrad and Christian were married within a year of each other (1796/1797), so I assume that they were close in age. The other children seem to have married 1800 and later. So they were probably younger than Christian and Conrad.

Son Abraham left for Ohio before 1820. He apparently died in Indiana. There is conflicting information about place and date of death.

There was a large Pennsylvania German community in Monroe/Greenbrier Co. Families associated with the Deboys in Monroe Co. were Keller, Cook, Showen/Showan, Mannix and Ensminger.
