Hi Sharon, it's very nice to meet another cousin! According to an email that I received from Gerry Hebert, he had mentioned that the actual surname was Deguire, and when they were still in Quebec, the surname was Deguire dit Derosier. So, when the family came here and grew, although I don't know if they had to do anything legally, changed it to DeRosier. From the Family History Library, Michel Deguire dit DeRosier married Emilie Cartier, and they had five children. Joseph Philias Deguire, who was my great, great grandfather, Louis, Marie Emilie, Desire (Jerry), and Marie Mathilda. Michel and Emilie were married 1-16-1844 at St d'Yamaska Church in Quebec. Emilie's parents were Louis Cartier and Agathe Ritchot. A cousin of mine has emailed me more info, so when I get a chance to look at it closer, I'll let you know. I have also asked Gerry to email me more info about the Deguires, because he said that his info goes back to the 1600's. I'll be in touch. Claudette
