I have a mystery DeRossett. No one I have contacted so far has connected her to their DeRossett family. She is Rebecca Jane DeRossett, born 1836, was living in Hillsboro, Hill County, Texas in 1865, possibly in 1862 through 1868, married to Archelus Smith. She was married before him to (John? Payne), named her daughter from this marriage Sarah Francis and her sons, Dillard D. and Thomas B. Payne. Assumed widowed. Her first son with Smith was named Hiram, her daughter, Eliza, and her youngest son, John. I have seen Sarah, Hiram, Eliza, and John in the DeRossett families a lot. I have not other information on this DeRossett. I keep thinking that Preston, bn. 1809, is the logical family for her, but all guesswork. I need information on the Preston DeRossett line.
