I am intersted in information pertaining to Bertie Derossett. Her father was James Henry DeRossett b. Sept. 1, 1835, d. March 2, 1914. James was married to Cordelia Catherine Slagel, b. June 22, 1837, d. Sept. 1893.

James DeRossett's parents were: John Derossett b. abt. 1790 in Virginia and Martha Pritchett b. abt. 1790 in North Carolina.

John DeRossett's parents were: Daniel DeRossett b. abt. 1774 and Nancy Wheat.

Bertie DeRossett married Charles Alvin Hoagland. This was my husband's great grandfather.

The story passed through my husband's family is that the DeRossett name was originally spelled De Reussette, and pronounced De-Roo-Say. It is said that the family was once members of the House of Bourbon (some of the Kings of France were Bourbons).

It is said that before John DeRossett died he burned a bunch of papers pertaining to the lineage of the family. He said that there was no longer money or honor in the name.

I would appreciate any information that you may have.
