Any DeRossett scholars of the Floyd County, KY DeRossetts out there? I descend from the Friend family of Floyd County, KY.
There is a suit brought up in 1832 against Samuel K. Friend and Charles W. Friend in regard to some property transfer made to the Friend folks by Solomon DeRossett...challenging the transfer. I am having trouble following the plot of it all. Solomon is apparently dead by 1832.
Here's some of the players. If you've got these, please contact me. Kelsey N. Harris, Solomon's widow Clarinda DeRossett m. John Waldick, apparently Solomon's children Elizabeth, Zarilda, Amosetta, Thomas Stratton, Thomas Wilson, Jonathan Fitzpatrick, and Jacob Mayo.
There is reference to a Lot in Prestonsburg as well as a Hatter or Halter Shop. I do not have any idea about why Kelsey N. Harris is involved, however it appears he initiated the suit. I do not know if the Friend family is related to DeRossett or just happened to have a land transaction. Any help appreciated.
